2020 Summer – Week 2 – Predictions

This week matches will be very interesting as the 2019 Winter winners Allstars will have their first game this season, and 4 teams who have their eyes on the Rank 3 spot will face each other.

Sons of Death vs Saints and Sinners

Predictions

Iska:
SaS was flying in the first games vs LATAM with a 5-0 victory, however it could have easily changed in some hectic duel matches. However, this week’s opponent looks easier on paper for the 2020 Spring champions. They will face Sons of Deaths that had some very close matches vs dw and only lost 3-2 vs them, due to amazing play by clinic in the last seconds on Deck 4v4 aswell as in 2v2. S.o.D might be able to pull off another nailbiter in the 2on2, especially with the newly acquired ch1ps. In the end, sas’ experience will make them take home all points.

  w)v:
The SoD team rallied impressively to claim two points in last week’s fixture vs Druckwelle, so there’s sure to be good confidence within the line-up heading into the showdown with sas, who themselves will be pleased with the way the game went against a skilled opponent in LATAM.
I won’t say too much about predictions as it’s my team involved, but we head into every match with the intention of winning whilst respecting that our opponent will have prepared themselves to stop that.

phantaci:
With what may be the last season of UTPL this year, I think sas means business. I am expecting a 5-0 for sas.

Masters of Death vs Allstars

Predictions

0% vs 100%

Iska:
I really cant express how glad I am seeing Allstars back in the utproleague. The champions from the 2019 Winter season is ready again to prove their skills after they skipped a season. They have recruited another top dueler with Rookie. Allstars sat through week 1, and they will have their first match vs M.o.D who lost 4-1 to MESA in their previous game. However, I really liked M.o.D’s mentality as they kept fighting till the very last second, and who knows… This attitude might help them in a lot of stressful situations, but I don’t think they can do much vs Allstars.

  w)v:
It’s good to see the All-Stars line-up competing in UTPL again and I doubt we will see any rustiness in their showing. If Fastbreakk can build on his impressive duel performance vs dion2k5 last week then there is a slim chance MoD could sneak a map, but in all likelihood this will be a comfortable first game back for the North American line-up and five quick points on the board.

vs

LATAM vs Sons of War

Predictions

45% vs 55%

Iska:
This match is a MUST WATCH. Two teams that both want that 3rd rank spot. S.o.W are motivated with their first 5-0 win in the bag. LATAM on the other hand just lost 0-5, eventhough they gave sas a good run for their money. These matches might come down to the very last seconds, both have very good and coordinated lineups and are practicing a lot, so both teams are as motivated as they can be. All matches are going to be very close. I see a slight edge in the 2on2 for S.o.W. Both 4on4s and Duels might end up 1 to 1.

  w)v:
To me, this is the standout match of the weekend and is difficult to call. LATAM performed well against sas last time out, particularly in duels. Sons of War have been practicing heavily and are a skilled team in 4v4 and 2v2. My prediction is that SoW will take this one 3-2, with the team modes heading their way but losing out in duel.

phantaci:
This matchup highlights just how intense the race for top 3 is. LATAM is coming off the heels of two heart breaking duel losses at the hands of Saints and Sinners. I am expecting SoW to pull out the 2v2 win with ease. But from there it gets murky. LATAM has been scrimming nonstop and practicing duel… for now I am calling 3-2 for SoW. But the score can be reverse in LATAM’s favor.

 vs

Mesa Gaming vs DRUCKWELLE

Predictions

55% vs 45%

Iska:
Just after a highlight clanwar, we see yet another highlight. We finish playday 2 off with 2 more teams that want that 3rd place in the league rankings.

This is a rematch between the top 2 teams from the Challenger Division in the 2020 Spring season where Mesa had the better result. I am sure dw is looking for redemption and with a new stronger lineup well they have a good shot.

We saw in dw last game that they lost 1 4v4 and the 2v2, so there might be some changes coming up since I am sure it won’t happen again, every points count. MESA on the other hand looks very good and almost looks impossible to beat in NA, and I am sure inceptos+itswaisty will make it hard for dw to even get to a tiebreaker. I believe the 4on4s swing dw’s way as well as one of the duels.

  w)v:
Another exciting matchup between last seasons top two Challenger Division teams. DW are certainly stronger this time around and with the addition of rePete to their roster, should help to add frag power to their impressive team play. Mesa are one of the strongest teams in the division and will be expecting to win this match.
This matchup is heavily map dependent and I would not be surprised to see either a close 3-2 or a comfortable 5-0. I cannot quite see DW having enough to swing the matchup in their favour however, especially with the game being on NYC.

phantaci:
Wow what a playday. Two other teams vying for top 3. This is a rematch of Challenger division finals from S2. dw has improved their roster but so has mesa with the addition of a veteran dueler in s!r. Nevertheless I am calling it 3-2 for dw. I think the addition of two former cc members repete and d3ity makes dw that much harder to beat.
